IPL Auction 2019 bidding rate of Varun Chakravarthy: Rs 8.4 Crore

In the bid for the 12th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), there was huge amount of money in the bid for a player who rarely expected anyone. This shocking name is Varun Chakraborty, who has been bought by Kings XI Punjab for Rs 8.4 crore. Varun received 42 times more than the base price of 20 lakh rupees. Delhi and Chennai started the bid seeing this, it became interesting when Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) jumped into the race. Starting from Rs 20 lakh, the bid stopped at Rs 8.4 crore.

Although Varun Chakraborty is an unknown player at the international level, but in domestic cricket, his team has done wonders for several times for Tamil Nadu. His name was first revealed during the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL). In the tournament, he has bold many top batsmen from Tamil Nadu. After the TNPL, this mystery bowler got a chance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. It was a sensation with 22 wickets in just 9 matches here. He was the highest wicket-taker bowler at the group stage.

Surprisingly, Varun, who started cricket career at the age of 13, was a wicket-keeper batsman. Not only this, Varun completed his degree in architecture from SRM University in Chennai. After this, he started freelance work, but continued to play tennis ball cricket. He joined Cromwell Cricket Club as an all-rounder (fast bowler and batsman). However, luck also got hit here. He had to quit fast bowling soon, because in the second match he got his knee hurt.

After knee injury, Varun decided to become a spinner. After returning from injury, he joined the Jubilee Cricket Club in the fourth season of the Chennai league. In this tournament (2017-18), he scored 31 wickets (average 8.26, economy rate of 3.06) in just 7 matches. During this time he also made a fantastic half-century.
