Lake Ohau, Waitaki District, New Zealand

Lake Ohau is a lake of glacial origin Basin Mackenzie on the South Island of New Zealand. Located 30 km west of Tuizela, it is a natural boundary between the Otago and Canterbury regions. Officially, the lake lies in the northwestern part of the district Vaitaki in the southern part of the Canterbury region.

The area of the mirror is 51 km². The greatest depth is 129 m. The Dobson and Hopkins rivers flow into the lake. Catchment area: 1198 km². Runoff takes place across the River Ohau. The lake is surrounded by forests - Ohau, Temple, Hopkins, Ahuriri, Huxley and Dobson, in which hiking trails are laid.

It is a popular place for fishing and recreation among tourists.
