Madhuri Dixit (born May 15, 1967 in Mumbai) is a well-known Hindi film actress and dancer, awarded five times at the Filmfare Awards. She is considered an icon of Bollywood cinema from the 1980s and 1990s. She is known in Bollywood as Queen Bee.

Life

Madhuri Dixit has set a stage in Indian Hindi films which today's actresses consider to be ideal for themselves. In the 80s and 90s, she established herself as a leading actress and well known dancer in Hindi cinema. Such was the magic of her wonderful dance and natural acting that Madhuri became the beat of the whole country.

Madhuri Dixit was born on 15 May 1967 in a Marathi family in Mumbai. Madhuri, the beloved daughter of father Shankar Dixit and mother Sneh Lata Dixit, had wanted to become a doctor since childhood and perhaps it was due to the fact that Madhuri chose her life partner Sriram Nene, who is a doctor by profession. After studying from Divine Child High School, Madhuri Dixit completed her undergraduate education from Mumbai University. Since childhood, she was interested in dance, for which Madhuri trained for eight years.

She went to Parle College and wanted to be a microbiologist. She studied to be a Kathak dancer in classical Hindu tradition. She made her debut with Abodh (1984) and after a few small films, she participated in Tezaab (1988), Dayavan (1988), Ram Lakhan (1989), Dil (1990), Saajan (1991), Beta (1992), Khalnayak (1993) and Hum Aapke Hain Kaun! (1994). After three years of success, she returned with Dil To Pagal Hai (1997) for which she won her fourth Filmfare Award for Best Actress.

In 2001, she was awarded the national civil award as a reward for her activities.

In 2002, she starred in Devdas, with Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai, a film that caught the eye at the Cannes Film Festival.

On February 25, 2006, she performed for the first time in six years at the Filmfare Awards ceremony for the film Devdas. Saroj Khan directed the choreography of Dixit's dances in the film and were well received. In 2007, she paid tribute to Bollywood's heroines on International Women's Day. In 2007 she starred in the cult film Aaja Nachle.

In 2008, she was honored with the fourth highest civilian honor "Padmashree" of the Government of India.

Madhuri Dixit has been the muse of several artists such as the painter M.F. Hussain, who considers her the embodiment of Indian women. She appeared in Hussain Gaja Gamini's 2000 film. Gaja Gamini a tribute to Madhuri's beauty and talent.

Personal life

Madhuri Dixit is the daughter of Shankar and Snehlata Dixit. Her family is of Marathi origin. She has two elder sisters, Rupa and Bharati, and an elder brother, Ajit. In 1999 she married Indian-American cardiovascular surgeon Sriram Madhav Nene. She has 2 children, Arin (born March 2003 in Colorado) and Ryan (March 18, 2005 in Colorado).

Career

Madhuri Dixit is one of the most successful actresses in Hindi cinema. She started her acting life in the year 1984 with a movie called "Abodh". But she got recognition from the 1988 film "Tezaab". After this, she did not look back. A series of super hit films made her the highest paid actress in Indian cinema.

In the year 1990, her film "Dil" came in which she played the character of a rich and spoiled girl who loved with an ordinary family boy and rebelled against her own people to marry him. She won the Filmfare Best Actress Award for her role.
